For Every Evil Under the Sun  is nominated for the Silver Falchion Award at Killer Nashville

The Synopsis

What happens when the structures we rely on completely collapse?

Every Evil Under the Sun is a cross-genre anthology that cuts across psychological suspense, noir, and dark literary fiction. It is an exploration of human fragility, inherited trauma, and the hidden forces that shape our environments. From rain-slicked urban streets to the quiet, suffocating isolation of rural landscapes, these stories dissect the anatomy of violence and the lengths people will go to survive the dark.

This isn't just a collection of crime stories. It’s a forensic examination of the human heart under pressure.

The Vision

When I conceived For Every Evil Under the Sun, I wanted to move past the familiar tropes of commercial crime fiction and push directly into deeper, more unsettling territory. I brought together a collective of bold, boundary-pushing voices and exceptional talent to explore the corners of suspense, noir, and literary horror where daylight rarely reaches.

As a creative director, my goal wasn't to enforce a uniform style, but to engineer an atmosphere. Every story in this collection functions like a custom-built house—haunted by secrets, shaped by trauma, and built on the bone-deep mechanics of exceptional prose craft.

What Readers and Writers Are Saying

"Burt, Chandler and Oles add meat to the bones of this dark Mother Goose nursery rhyme with this collection of short stories. These nine tales make for somewhat uncomfortable reading, portraying divergent shades of evil, and survivors as they find their way out. Or not. You may wonder, as you read, whether or not you have actually brushed shoulders with evil. Or whether you have merely glimpsed it in a nightmare." Josephine H. Long
